VINTAGE ATTRACTION AND TAXIM PRESENT: ACROPOLIS NOW!
February 10, 2013

A wine dinner featuring written lines and Greek vines

"Blackstone's skillful comparisons between the fragility of love and the temperamental nature of wine making pepper the novel throughout and are a pleasure to read. Scenes such as this provide the escapism and adventure that is so enticing to many a wanderlust reader. Vintage Attraction is a novel for wine-lovers and travel-lovers alike." -Bustle.com

"Since starting it I've stocked my wine cabinet with new grapes like Xinomavro and Assyrtiko - perfect to sip while reading, of course. Pick it up if you're a Top Chef fan, wine fan or just someone who likes a good love story." - People.com

"[A] poignant novel of celebrity romance and wine."
LA Book Review on Vintage Attraction

On Monday, February 10, Vintage Attraction author Charles Blackstone hosts Acropolis Now!, a wine and book dinner at Taxim(1558 N. Milwaukee Ave.), the beloved Wicker Park restaurant  featuring cuisine and wine from Greece.

The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with a welcome reception with Blackstone, who recently debuted his newest novel and wine-centric love story, Vintage Attraction. Designed to transport guests to the islands of Greece - and inspired by the beautiful scenes described in Vintage Attraction - a three-course dinner featuring Greek fare by Taxim Owner/Chef David Schneider and wine pairings from the region will follow at 7 p.m.  All guests will receive a signed copy of Vintage Attraction as well as the opportunity to learn about the wines served throughout the evening.

Reservations to Acropolis Now! are available for $65 per person, (includes copy of book and dinner with pairings) and by calling Taxim at (773) 252-1558.

About Vintage Attraction

Before Peter Hapworth meets Izzy, he knows the difference between Pinot Noir and peanut butter, but that's about it.  Lonely and frustrated with his academic career-as well as with dating-his life takes a sudden turn one night when he turns on the television. He's transfixed by the woman staring back at him, a glass of wine swirling delicately in her hand: Isabelle Conway, one of the preeminent sommeliers in the world. There's something about her. Somehow, he feels like he already knows her.

On a whim, he pitches himself as a guest on her popular TV show, and the two embark on a whirlwind courtship. But relationships require a delicate balance of nurturing and trust, much like winemaking. Hapworth and Izzy must navigate the complex mysteries of wine-and the heart-from glamorous social events and domestic tribulations in Chicago to the vineyards and rocky bluffs of Santorini in Greece.

Vintage Attraction is now available for purchase in bookstores and online nationwide.
