Viola Cafe in Three Oaks, Michigan

On a recent trip to one of my favorite little towns, Three Oaks, Michigan, we decided to stop at Viola Cafe for lunch. Being in Harbor Country and one town away from Lake Michigan, the town sees their share of tourists in the peak travel season. Some of the businesses are seasonal and some are there one summer and then are gone the next year. Luckily, Viola Cafe is a constant that has been there over a dozen years.

When we stopped in, we had just missed breakfast time. Hubby got a turkey club with a tortilla soup and I ordered an Apple Cider Century Salad. It was amazing with all the things I love - fresh greens, avocado, sliced apple, bleu cheese and bacon and it was served with a vinaigrette.

It's a cute little cafe in a century-plus old building with a tin ceiling and a classic 19-th century store front with large windows and vintage-looking lettering on the window. They're open for breakfast and lunch only with classic sandwiches, soups, salads, burgers and melts. The breakfast menu includes Belgian waffles, omelets, scrambles. eggs Benedict, hues rancheros and more. They serve biscuits and gravy on the weekends.

Next time you are in Harbor Country, stop in and give them a try for a hearty meal in a cute setting.
