Picante Mexican Cuisine

I am a big fan of Mexican, Tex Mex and Mexican fusion cuisine. I'm fortunate that the city I now live in, Valparaiso, Indiana and the surrounding area, has a vast variety of such places to choose from. I can think of close to a dozen off the top of my head and I know there are even more. Some serve authentic Mexican dishes and some are more of a blend of the best of Mexican cuisine with an American twist. I still haven't made it to all of them, but I'm trying.

On of the newer spots is Picante Mexican Cuisine and its become one of my favorites. It's in a quiet, less busy area around the edge of the Valparaiso University Campus. There's a very laid back vibe, but the service is friendly and fast and food comes out quickly, which is a plus if you're there for lunch and don't have a lot of time. Lunch is when I most like to go, when you can choose from a number of $10 combos.

I stopped in for a quick bite with hubby recently and loved the trio tacos of chicken, chorizo and steak. He got a giant burrito filled with generous amounts of tender, flavorful steak. A horchata was a perfect beverage to wash it down.
