Treble-Maker Grill to offer free three-course meal for veterans
Anyone who knows me knows how passionate I am about showing appreciation to our troops and veterans. Back in 2003, our family started sending care packages overseas. I started larger projects with groups I was involved with to send packages to different deployed units - some were from our hometown or units from our area, some were for female soldiers, some were working with orphanages and requesting shoes and coats for kids, some were for units with service dogs.
I've worked with local teachers to have students do letters and drawings to send to troops. I've arranged visits at my kids' school for military personnel to visit while home on leave or for World War II veterans to share their experiences with students. I started an appreciation dinner for veterans over 5 years ago that grew from 60 attendees to nearly 300 and I helped recently with a 5K that benefited veteran causes and had an accompanying pancake breakfast that was free for veterans. We can never do enough to thank these men and women, but in small ways we can show our gratitude for their sacrifices.
This time of year it warms my heart to hear of restaurants that offer meals to members of the military or to veterans. Often veterans are reluctant to accept such offers of hospitality that they so absolutely deserve. If you have someone in your family who has served their country, plan to take them to Treble-Maker Grill on November 11. The menu looks fantastic! Kudos to Treble-Maker for treating our vets to a gourmet meal.
