Kenosha's Restaurant Week Coming Up February 1 - 9

I've been traveling up to the Kenosha, Wisconsin for many years, but it's just been in the last couple years that I truly came to appreciate what an awesome food city it is.

Last year my friends at the Kenosha Area Convention & Visitors Bureau invited me to come up and try out some of the restaurants that were participating in Kenosha Restaurant Week. I had a great time eating way around town. It was only the second time I planned a trip entirely on food (but there have been more since then).

On many of my travels food is a focal point and I often schedule other things around having a meal at a place I want to visit, but this trip was different. The itinerary was ALL food. Of course, you have to walk off a few calories in between, so I squeezed in some other stops (Kenosha has some awesome museums near the lakefront, beautiful beaches and parks, a cool art scene, outlet shopping and more) in between meals. I loved every minute of it.

I was invited back this year to do another foodie trip centered around Kenosha Restaurant Week and was excited to check more of the eateries off my list. This year there are more than 40 participants.

Should you plan to do as I did and do a foodie trip to the area, I have three recommendations for lodging. One is the Wyndham Garden Kenosha Harborside. That's where I stayed on this most recent trip and I've stayed there in the past. It's the only lodging option that is right on the lake with beautiful views all year long. There are some great rates right now, too. Last I checked you could get a room for $89 during the dates that Kenosha Restaurant Week is running. The Coffee Pot Inn isn't too far off the lake and it's an adorable apartment above The Coffee Pot diner with three bedrooms and a full kitchen. The Stella Hotel and Ballroom is located downtown in a historic building that was renovated and opened less than a year ago and their restaurant is also a participating location for Kenosha Restaurant Week. I stayed there last summer when we went to town for a fishing charter excursion (where we then had our catch cooked up at the Boat House Pub & Eatery). It's a nice touch of luxury and elegance and a great home base during a visit.

Also, take a minute to look at the meals I've had at some other Kenosha eateries and start planning your foodie trip. And maybe pack your stretchy pants!
