Having a Hearty Brunch at The Mason Jar

I love having brunch on a Sunday afternoon. It’s usually a chill day where I can sleep in and not have to get right to work. And I love breakfast food - all day long.

I was in Lowell, Indiana recently on a Sunday afternoon and when I looked for a place to have lunch, I came across The Mason Jar. When I was seated, she asked if I wanted breakfast or lunch. I was excited that breakfast was an option. It was 1:45 p.m.

I knew instantly I’d get something that was a breakfast dish, but there were too many good choices. Did I want avocado toast? Or biscuits and gravy? Maybe steak and eggs? Stuffed French toast perhaps? Or a simple breakfast sandwich? Ohhh...they have eggs benedict. Maybe that. I wanted everything.

I ended up getting the country fried steak. I don’t have this very often, but it’s my go-to when I stop at a Cracker Barrel location. It also came with eggs (I always get scrambled) and with home fries or hash brown and toast or a biscuit. It was quite a feast and so good. I enjoyed every bite. And took home enough for breakfast the next day, too - and lunch.

I’m so glad I stumbled upon this place and rather than grabbing a quick sandwich or salad for lunch, I got a big brunch spread and relaxed and savored it on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
