Chicago Foodie Sisters: Valentine's Gift Guide

My mom always used to say that the way to a man's heart was through his stomach. Food is love. Cooking up something special or buying a treat that you know someone will appreciate is a way of showing someone that they are special. So, when Valentine's Day comes around, giving a gift of something yummy is almost never a bad idea.

We do a gift guide each year for Christmas where we share some favorite items and it only seemed fitting to create a list for Valentine's Day, too. We're sharing some favorite treats that you may want to consider gifting to your sweetheart or someone else in your life. We've also included some other thoughtful items to  help your loved one relax or pamper themselves.

Let us know if there's something you love that we need to know about. Hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day being spoiled and finding something to treat your loved ones.

And be sure to bookmark this page as we'll be adding more items as the holiday approaches - and it's a nice list to refer back to for birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions.

DeBrand Find Chocolates

There are a lot of chocolates to choose from when you want to give some as a gift and there are too many that I love to put into this list, but the fine chocolates made by DeBrand are some that will definitely make someone feel loved and they'll savor every bit. They make stuffing truffles and artisan chocolates that are almost too pretty to eat.

Blooming Baker

These are some of the most beautiful baked goods you'll ever come across. I loved these brownies that are decorated with edible flowers. They are stunning - and really yummy, too. They aren't just for show. If you really want to spoil someone, this is sure to make their day. It's something unique that they've very likely not seen or tried before. This one you'll want to bookmark for birthdays, Mother's Day, anniversaries and other occasions.

Who doesn't love to get a basket of goodies? I always love getting something from Gourmet Baskets. They've got something for everyone. There are several sizes and themes to choose from, so not matter who the recipient is, you can scan through and find something to fit.

Villa Graziella Organic Wines, Seasonings, Oils & Balsamic

Villa Grziella Organic is one of my favorite brands - they carry the best of fine certified organic food and wine. Their balsamic is incredible and a gift that a foodie is sure to love. There are also wines, oils, seasonings and more to choose from. Better yet, order a pack of their seasonings and cook up a meal for your mate, light some candles, pour some wine and have a date night at home.

There's cake. And then there's premium, top-quality-ingredient-filled, made-with-lots-of-love kind of cake made from a recipe passed down through generations. If you've never tried Miss Dottie's Pound Cake, you are so missing out. I love their charitable endeavors, too, that you can read about on the website. Perfect gift for the cave lover in your life.

Tea Forte Teas

Both of us Chicago Foodie Sisters are big tea fans. If you want to treat a tea lover to something special, Tea Forte is a favorite premium brand that comes in beautiful packaging.

ROAM Homegrown Candles

Candles are a romantic gift. Everything seems more beautiful by candlelight. They can help set the stage for an intimate evening or be just the thing to help you relax. ROAM Homegrown Luxe Candles are hand poured and come in a variety of scents. There are also some great gift sets that are perfect for pampering.

Treat someone to this nourishing and hydrating body oil that will sooth your skin. Better yet, buy some and treat your someone special to a massage. Who wouldn't love that?
