Bella Bacinos in Downtown La Grange Hosts Wine Event Featuring
Gray Hartley, Wine Maker of Hitching Post Winery
on Wednesday, Jan. 20

Bella Bacinos (36 S. La Grange Rd.) in Downtown La Grange will host a wine reception with Gray Hartley featuring wines from the Hartley-Ostini Hitching Post Winery, 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 20.

Reservations are available for $59 per person (excluding tax and gratuity). Bella Bacinos will provide complimentary small plates and artisanal cheeses. All wines will be available for purchase at special pricing.

To RSVP, contact Dan Bacin at (708) 420-9600 or send him an email at Bacinos@comcast.net.

Guests will have the opportunity to learn about the featured wines from Hartley himself. Hartley also will share stories and behind the scenes insights from the making of the movie "Sideways", which will be playing on flat screens at Bella Bacinos.

The Hitching Post II restaurant was prominently featured in the 2004 movie, which increased the exposure of the Santa Barbara Wine Country and helped to popularize Pinot Noir.

Hitching Post Wines are made by Gary Hartley and Frank Ostini. Hartley and Ostini first made wine at home in 1979, and produced their first Pinot Noir in 1981. In 1984, they moved their winery to produce wines exclusively for the Hitching Post II restaurant, and as production grew, they moved to the Terravant Winery in Buellton, just 1.5 miles from Hitching Post II.

The pair believes they are caretakers who guide the wine into the bottle. They produce numerous Pinot Noirs, a few Syrahs, and a Cabernet Franc blend. Most wines are aged in French Oak barrels for 18 months and are bottled unfiltered. This minimalist approach allows the wine to reflect the unique character of the vineyard and the vintage by preserving the essence of the grape.
