Chef Anthony Russo has brought his New York-style coal-fired pizzas from his restaurant locations to your local supermarket. Chef Russo opened his first restaurant, Russo's New York Pizzeria in 1992 with a menu of Italian classics.
In recent years Russo set out to do something that he saw a need for and that he believed hadn't yet been done - he wanted to make a great-tasting gluten free pizza. Seeing a need to supply a delicious pizza option for those following gluten-free diets, he spent two years perfecting the recipe. Today there are nine varieties of Chef Anthony's Gluten Free Pizza in more than 2,000 U.S. grocery stores and at 30-plus restaurants in the United States and Middle East.
The Chicago Foodie Sisters had a chance to try out some of the varieties of Chef Anthony Russo's frozen varieties. Tonight we tried out three of the pizza varieties. Each has uses premium ingredients that are nitrate free, egg free and soy free. Ingredients are garden fresh. EVO is certified organic. Toppings are all natural. Even if you don't have a need to follow a gluten-free diet, but are looking to eat cleaner in the new year, these are some good products to try out.
The Margherita flavor includes fresh roma tomatoes, basil, olive oil & mozzarella cheese. We also tried the Uncured Pepperoni variety. The Chicken Rutica includes olive oil & garlic sauce, grilled white chicken, roma tomatoes, fresh spinach, feta and mozzarella cheeses. That one was my favorite. The garlic sauce had a fabulous flavor and I love that the crust is ultra thin. Each 12 to 14-ounce pizza yields six triangular slices.
