Charcuterie now open in downtown Griffith

Griffith has another cool spot to add to their hip, growing landscape - which includes craft breweries and the trendy Grindhouse Cafe coffee house that sits a couple doors down. I had been hearing about the new specialty shop opening downtown and couldn't wait to get in there to check it out.

Charcuterie opened last month, carrying top-quality meats, artisan cheeses, spices, rubs, jellies, sauces and other gourmet items. They also carry a nice selection of local craft beers and they even offer their own house wine. I spotted a few favorite products and made note of a few others I'd like to try. I picked up some nice roast beef and cheese, Italian bread, some English marmalade and marcona almonds.

The shop is a venture by two foodies, Skip Jones and Valerie Gonzales who plan to share their passion for good food and make it more accessible for those in northwest Indiana.

Looking forward to the next trip there to try out more. Stop in sometime and see what's on the shelves.

Charcuterie is at 128 N. Broad Street in Griffith, Indiana. Check them out online at www.charcuterienwi.com.

  1. You need to visit Say Cheese! in Merrillville, also a new cheese joint.
