Valparaiso Market
Raise your hand if you love farmer’s markets!! Mine is way up high. Whenever we travel I love to check out markets and close to home I always love to visit a new market. Each one is different with a new bunch of vendors and artisans I may not have come across before.
Many of today’s markets have expanded to offer more than whatever crop is in season at that moment. You’ll also find specialty foods, baked goods, meats, fresh dairy, jewelry, clothing, home decor, candles, books, toys, hand-crafted items, woodwork and more.
The Valparaiso Market has a number of vendors and takes place each Tuesday and Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Some favorite vendors I’ve come across there are Kajer Green’s, Bao’s Pastry, Naok’s Popcorn, Bennett Farms, Phi’s Vietnamese and Bak House.
It’s held in downtown Valparaiso at Central Park Plaza. It’s held both under the Urschel Pavillion with additional vendors along the closed street that runs through the plaza. A splash pad provides free fun for kids, there’s free yoga in the park on Saturdays and live music from 11-1 p.m.
Valpo is also an awesome food town and there are lots of good food options within the couple of blocks surrounding the plaza and courthouse. The market runs twice weekly into mid-October.
