Bluebeard
Disclosure: I received a complimentary meal as part of a coordinated trip with Visit Indy. I was not compensated for the post. All opinions are my own.
As I visited Indianapolis last month, I had the opportunity to enjoy dinner at Bluebeard, one of Indy's hottest foodie spots. There's a fun vibe at this trendy upscale eatery in Indy's Fountain Square area. The menu is super creative and local ingredients are highlighted. That culinary ingenuity has earned Chef Abbi Merriss a James Beard Award nomination.
Our meal started with toasted bread and flavored butters (I lived the anchovy butter). All breads are made fresh daily at their in-house bakery, Amelia's.
Everything was so amazingly packed with flavor. The shrimp starter was fabulous and the halibut entree was cooked to perfection accompanied by some incredible roasted cauliflower. The menu changes daily, so you'll find something new on each visit.
We were there on a chilly and rainy spring day, but the outdoor patio looks like a great place to chill with friends for cocktails.
Sharing the name of a novel by Indianapolis native Kurt Vonnegut, you'll find nods to the author around the place.
If you go to Indy and have time for only one meal, this would be an excellent pick. For more on the restaurant, visit bluebeardindy.com.
