Inspired Coffee: Lake Geneva, WI
Just have to give a shout out to a little coffee shop I adore that I've visited on each of our last three trips to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I do love to sit and linger in a cute coffee shop sometimes with a cup of tea and maybe a light meal if they have a lunch menu.
There's a lot to love about this place, but it's not the tea or the baked good or the location or the atmosphere that give this shop a special place in my heart. It's their mission. It's also a workplace that supports those with intellectual disabilities, giving them a purpose and a place in their community.
According to their website: Unlike other coffee shops employing people with disabilities, Inspired is a training ground – a 12-month, paid training program. We have created a system to train, coach and prepare individuals for fully integrated employment in the community through teaching critical, on-the-job hard skills and often overlooked soft skills such as dependability, communication, taking initiative, problem solving and remaining focused on the job."
