Beggar’s Pizza Whiting
One of my favorite regional pizza chains is Beggar's Pizza. They're known for laying it on thick - and they do! There's tons of cheese and they don't skimp on the sausage.
I was first introduced to it years ago from co-workers when we went to the Blue Island location. Later one moved to Lansing in an old movie theatre with a pipe organ and we love to go there and dine while we hear and see the organ played. Last week I was in Whiting, Indiana to see the classic movie It's a Wonderful Life at the Historic Hoosier Theatre. After we were done we went across the street to Beggar's Whiting location for a pizza.
Beggar's is an adorable town with so much charm. The main drag on 119th Street is lined with cute little shops and restaurants. There's a craft brewery. The Hoosier Theatre, which dates back to the 1920s. City Hall. And at the very end of the street is the Mascot Hall of Fame, which opened today! I got in last week for a media preview and it is a fantastic hands-on museum that kids will love. That's where 119th dead ends. But, go to your left and you'll have beautiful views of Whihala Beach and Lake Michigan. If you haven't been to Whiting before, or haven't been there in a while, mark a day on your calendar and stop there for some pizza and more!
