Cunis Candies
Valentine's Day is quickly approaching and if you're wondering what to get for your sweetheart, you might consider heading to South Holland for a box of hand-made chocolate treats. This old school candy shop opened in 1933 in Chicago and relocated to South Holland in 1971.
I stopped in recently to get my son a milkshake and I had to enjoy a few chocolate treats, as well. I brought home some cremes and mint meltaways and tried to keep myself from buying one of everything. Popping into the store is a sweet throwback to an earlier time - before you ordered everything on Amazon or had smart phones - when a weekend date was often spent at an ice cream parlor sharing a banana split.
Stop in for a little blast from the past and surprise your sweetheart with some old-fashioned candy that is full of sweet memories. True to South Holland tradition, the store is closed on Sundays, but they're open 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
