Belle Meade Plantation Tasting Room

My husband and I recently made a three-day trip to Nashville and on our last day we had an evening flight, so after checking out of our Air BnB, we had some lunch and then decided to do a tour of the Belle Meade Plantation.

The home was beautiful and it was a very informative guided tour. We also took some time to peruse the grounds and buildings. One of the buildings was a former slave residence and it was a sobering bit of history and what was a typical way of life for slaves at that time.

The 1853 mansion was once the centerpiece of a 5,400-acre thoroughbred farm. Today it's open for tours and is a venue for weddings and events. It includes a tasting room, gift shop and restaurant and a small museum of horse-drawn wagons.

Our tour ended with a stop in their tasting room and tried out some of the wine varieties, which can be purchased on their website, bellemeadewinery.com. I loved the blackberry wine! It was a nice finish to the tour before we made our way back down to Broadway for dinner and a drink at a honkey tonk before heading to the airport. I'm glad we took time out for a tour of this historic site before leaving town and I'd recommend putting it on your itinerary if you're headed to Music City.
