Mancino's Steak Delicious Sandwich
We have this great little pizza and sandwich place in town called Mancino's that serves up "Grinders," which are on crusty, homemade bread that is toasted with meat and cheese before the veggies and condiments go on. It is actually part of a chain that now covers seven Midwest states with over 80 locations.
The term "Grinder" dates back to World War I when Italian immigrants set up sandwich shops close to the shipyards. Their sandwiches got their name from the customers who spent their days grinding rivets on the warships.
Mancino's Pizza and Grinders originated in St. Clair Shores, Michigan and was started by Samuel Mancino, Sr. in the 1930's, so it's a place that has quite a history and quite an extensive menu of fabulous sandwiches. The steak delicious (pictured above) is my absolute favorite, but I'm a big fan of the BBQ chicken and the Mancino's club, as well. They also have great soups - the best chicken dumpling around.
